Rajnath Singh chairs meeting of central Zonal Council in Lucknow

  • The Central ZonalCouncil comprises states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh andUttarakhand.
  • The Council's meeting aims at addressing common concerns of theparticipating states and settling cross-border concerns, if any. 
  • FiveZonal Councils -- central, western, northern, southern and eastern -- have beenestablished under the State Reorganization Act, 1956. The last meeting of thecouncil was held in January 2015.

  • India has contributed one million US dollars for the installation of solar panels on the roof of the imposing UN building at the world body's headquarters in New York.

  • The contribution will help reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable energy.

MHA signs MoU with ISRO to set up an Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response

  • Home Ministry and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have signed a MoU for setting up of a state-of-the-art Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) in Home Ministry.

  • The ICR-ER will cater to the requirement of Disaster Management as well as Internal Security.

  • It will address the requirement of receipt of information on near real-time basis, strategic level monitoring, situation awareness, command and control, preparedness and response in the diverse internal security situation and disaster-related emergencies.

UAE re-affirms commitments to developing nuclear programme to highest safety standards

  • The Emirates News Agency reported that during  his address to the 62nd session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna,  Ambassador Hamad Alkaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA, commended the international agency's central role in supporting its Member States in their pursuit, development and sustainment of peaceful uses of nuclear energy and applications.

World Bank approves Country Partnership Framework for India to support its transition to higher middle- income country

  • World Bank Board has endorsed an ambitious five-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for India, which aligns with New Delhi's objectives of high, sustainable and inclusive growth.

  • The move is aimed at supporting India's transition to a higher middle-income country by addressing some of its key development priorities such as resource efficient and inclusive growth, job creation and building its human capital.

ESIC approves new scheme, Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for cash relief to unemployed insured persons

  • The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has approved a new scheme- Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for Insured Persons covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Act. 
  • This scheme is a relief payable in cash directly to their Bank Account in case of unemployment and while they search for new engagement.
  • The decision was taken at the ESIC board meeting chaired by the Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar in New Delhi.

Ministry of Health introduces budget dashboard

  • In a bid to ensure transparency, the Ministry of Health has introduced 'budget dashboard', an internal web portal comprising information on budget, expenditure and bill payment positions.
  • An official statement said the 'budget dashboard' incorporates features for Ministry of AYUSH and Department of Health Research.
  • The internal web portal is user identity and password enabled.
  • It said on 'dashboard budget', expenditure information is available in a snapshot and details on various categories, such as flagship schemes, central sector expenditure are  also available.
  • The statement said the dashboard has unique features for bill position of all India pay and accounts offices (PAOs) of this ministry and it reflects the reason for return of bills.
