  • Hindi Divas is being celebrated across the country today.
  •  It was on this day in 1949 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country.
EAM Sushma Swaraj to co-chair 23rd meeting of IRIGC-TEC with Russian Dy PM in Moscow 
  • External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will co-chair the 23rd meeting of Inter-Governmental Commission on Technical and Economic Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) with Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation, Yuri Borisov in Moscow on 14/9/18
  • IRIGC-TEC is a standing body which annually meets and reviews ongoing activities of bilateral cooperation in the fields of bilateral trade and investment, science and technology, culture and other issues of mutual interest.
  • The Commission, after taking stock of bilateral cooperation in various fields, will provide policy recommendations and directions in the concerned fields.
Suresh Prabhu to take part in G-20 meet in Argentina 0n 14/9/18
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu will participate in G-20 trade and investment ministerial meeting at Mar del Plata in Argentina today.
  • Issues including increasing protectionism, challenges to promote global commerce and new industrial revolution are expected to be discussed at the meeting.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to embark on 3-nation visit to Serbia, Malta, Romania
  • Several MoUs including in the field of Agriculture and Tourism are expected to be signed during Vice President's visit to these countries.
Country's first Tribal Tourism Circuit to be launched in Chhattisgarh today
  • The country's first tribal circuit tourism project under the Swadesh Darshan scheme will be inaugurated at Gangrel in Chhattisgarh.
  • Swadesh Darshan scheme was launched in 2014 -15 and it is one of the flagship schemes of the Ministry of Tourism, for development of thematic circuits in the country in a planned and prioritised manner.
  • Under the tribal circuit theme of the scheme the Ministry has sanctioned 4 projects to Nagaland, Telangana and Chhattisgarh for Rs. 380 crore
  • Major components sanctioned in the tribal circuit theme include eco log huts, craft haats, souvenir shops or kiosk, tourist reception and facilitation centres, open amphitheatre, tribal interpretation centres, workshop centres, tourist amenities centres, last mile connectivity, wayside amenities, viewpoints, nature trails, solar illuminations, signages and solid waste management among others.
PM Modi to attend ‘Ashara Mubaraka’ in Indore today
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend Ashara Mubaraka, the commemoration of martyrdom of Imam Hussain, organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community in Indore today.
  • Prime Minister will also meet the 53rd religious head of Dawoodi Bohra community Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin. 
  • Dr Saifuddin is holding nine-day religious discourse at the Saifi Nagar mosque in the city, which began on Wednesday.
Justice Ranjan Gogoi to be next Chief Justice of India
  • Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the next Chief Justice of India. Law Ministry today notified the appointment of Justice Gogoi. 
  • He will succeed Chief JusticeDipak Misra

Sushma Swaraj will be on two-day visit to Moscow
  • Mrs Swaraj will hold the meeting of the 23rd India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Technical and Economic Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).
  • It will be co-chaired by Mrs Swaraj and Mr Yuri Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
 Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan approved by Cabinet will empower farmers & strengthen Agriculture sector
  • Giving a major boost to the farmer initiatives, the Cabinet yesterday approved the new umbrella policy, PM-AASHA aimed at ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce. 
  • Under the PM-AASHA, states would be allowed to choose from three schemes, existing Price Support Scheme, newly designed Price Deficiency Payment Scheme and Pilot of Private Procurement Stockist Scheme to undertake procurement when prices of commodities fall below the Minimum Support Price level. 
  • The CCEA also approved an over 25 per cent hike in the price of ethanol produced directly from sugarcane juice for blending in petrol.
Cabinet approves New Umbrella Scheme Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan
  • The Union Cabinet today approved new Umbrella Scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, PM-AASHA. 
  • The Scheme is aimed at ensuring remunerative prices to farmers for their produce as announced in the Union Budget for 2018. 
  • New Umbrella Scheme is comprised of Price Support Scheme, Price Deficiency Payment Scheme and Pilot of Private Procurement and Stockist Scheme.
  • This step aims at protecting the farmers’ income which is expected to go a long way towards the welfare of farmers.

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved over 25 per cent hike in the price of ethanol produced directly from sugarcane juice for blending in petrol

  • Road, Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath will lay the foundation stone of  Delhi-Saharanpur Highway in Baghpat  
India, Bangladesh jointly inaugurate three projects
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, and Chief Ministers of West Bengal and Tripura today jointly inaugurated three projects in Bangladesh via video conferencing.
  • These include 500 MW additional power supply from India to Bangladesh, Akhaura - Agartala Rail Link and Rehabilitation of the Kulaura-Shahbazpur section of Bangladesh Railways.
India joins elite group of countries capable of Air-to-Air fuel transfer
  • The first ever mid-air refuelling of the indigenously developed light combat aircraft Tejas was successfully carried out today, placing India in an elite group of countries having air-to-air refuelling capacity for military planes.

  • Justice Om Prakash Mishra has been sworn in as new Chief Justice of Nepal. 
  • The President Vidya Devi Bhandari administered oath of office and secrecy to Justice Mishra in Kathmandu this evening.
  •  Earlier in the day, Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) unanimously endorsed his name for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. 
 Florence expected to become a major hurricane as it heads to US
  • In the US, Hurricane Florence is expected to become a dangerous 'major hurricane" later today as it heads toward the US East Coast, the National Hurricane Center said.
