Treatment of child cancer to be covered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
  • The government has said that treatment of childhood cancer will be covered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
  • The scheme will provide health insurance cover of five lakh rupees to poor families
  • 1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centres will be opened in the country by 2022 under Ayushman Bharat.
  • These centres will provide comprehensive healthcare against diseases like diabetes, cancer, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. 

President Kovind returns home after concluding his tour of Cyprus, Bulgaria and Czech Republic

  • Indian President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tributes on the bust of Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore at the park situated on Thakurova street of Prague. 
  • The street is named 'Thakurova' to honour and commemorate Rabindra Nath Tagore who had a close association with the Czech Republic.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind's visit to three Central European countries has further strengthened India's long historical and political ties with Cyprus, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. 
  • A total of 12 MoUs and agreements were signed during the three nation visit of the President covering political, people to people relations, financial services, related aspects of the relations with these countries.
  • During the visit President Kovind made a strong pitch for Indo-Czech cooperation in the fields of high technology and defence sector.

  • Mr Naidu was addressing the concluding session of the second World Hindu Congress in Chicago last night. 
  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that India believes in universal tolerance and accepts all religions as true.
  • He said tolerance, acceptance of plurality, unity in diversity, and ability to adapt and absorb are some of the key aspects of Hinduism.

  • US President Donald Trump saluted North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Sunday for holding a massive military parade "without the customary display of nuclear missiles" to celebrate his country's 70th anniversary.
